Film Program at the UCF Nicholson School of Communication and Media
FMM Media Labs
Media Labs A & B
There are two Media Labs available for open lab use by Film BA and BFA undergraduate and MFA graduate students. They are rooms NSC-211A and 211B which are located on the second story of the Nicholson School of Communication and Media building.
Each lab is equipped with twenty iMac workstations designed to support classroom instruction as well as individual student media assignments. Software deployment includes Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, Microsoft Office, and other useful media applications.
All workstations in FMM Media Labs are deployed with NTFS for Mac drivers, which supports to use of Windows NTFS formatted external drives on our macOS computers.
Advanced Media Lab
The Advanced Media Lab in NSC-172 is available for students currently enrolled in advanced FIL skills courses, BFA studio courses, and the Feature Film Production, MFA program. Students who are enrolled as an Independent Study and Honors-in-the-Major that are working on an approved creative activities can also receive access.
The lab is equipped with ten iMac Pro workstations supported by secondary HDR displays. Deployment includes Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve Studio, Final Cut Pro, Logic, Motion, iZotope RX Elements, Microsoft Office, and other useful media applications.
UCF Computer Labs
There are also three university computer labs available for all UCF students to use. They are located on the UCF main campus within Technology Commons I, Technology Commons II, and Classroom Building I. These labs are equipped with Mac and PC workstations that are deployed with Adobe Creative Cloud, MS Office, and lots of other useful software.
Open Lab Access
Media Labs are accessible 24/7 via electronic access during the Fall and Spring semesters and when in-person skill courses are offered in Summer. These labs also function as classrooms, so please use the Activity Calendars below to determine open lab periods.
Electronic access is provisioned to indivdidual ID cards during the second week of the semester, after the Add/Drop deadline.
Assisted Lab Hours
Assisted lab hours are periods when a graduate teaching assistant is on duty to help students to use workstations and applications to complete their media assignments.
The Assisted Lab Hours for Spring 2026 are reoccurring on the following days and times of each week:

There are no assisted lab hours on holidays, Spring Break, or during Finals Week. Labs are still open for use by students via electronic access.
Activity Calendars for Media Labs
Below are the activities calendars for the Film and Mass Media Labs located in the NSCM building. After the second week of each semester, these Media Labs are available for open use when classes are not scheduled.
Labs are available for Open Lab use 24/7 unless designated as “Busy” in the calendars linked below.
Authorize Adobe Creative Cloud Applications
All workstations have licensed Adobe Creative Cloud software installed, but users must log into Adobe CC applications using their UCF NID.

Network Storage
Media files to support skills course work are available to students at program-supported macOS workstations within the FMM Media Labs NSC-211A & 211B and the Film Advanced Media Lab NSC-172.
