NSCM Media Labs

Overview

There are three Media Labs located within the Nicholson School of Communication and Media building – NSC-161, 211A, and 211B. They are accessible for open lab use by Film, BA and BFA majors who are enrolled in skills, production, or studio-level courses can access the NSCM building and these labs via the electronic lock pads with their issued UCF ID. Each lab is equipped with twenty iMac workstations designed to support classroom instruction as well as individual student media assignments. Deployment includes Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, MS Office, and other useful software.

The Advanced Media Lab in NSC-172 is available for students currently enrolled in FIL 4472C – Cinematography II, FIL 4535C – Sound Design II, FIL 4566C – Editing II, BFA studio courses, the MFA degree program, and approved Independent Studies or Honors thesis projects. The lab is equipped with ten iMac Pro workstations supported by secondary HDR displays. Deployment includes Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve Studio, Final Cut Pro, Logic, Motion, iZotope RX Elements, MS Office, and other useful software.

All Apple Mac workstations in NSCM Media Labs are deployed with NTFS for Mac drivers, which supports to use of Windows NTFS formatted drives.

There are also three university computer labs available for all UCF students to use. They are located on the UCF main campus within Technology Commons I, Technology Commons II, and Classroom Building I. These labs are equipped with Mac and PC workstations that are deployed with Adobe Creative Cloud, MS Office, and lots of other useful software.

Open Lab

After Add/Drop, all NSCM Media Labs are accessible 24/7 via electronic access during the Fall and Spring semesters and when in-person skill courses are offered in Summer. These labs also function as classrooms, so please use the Activity Calendars below to determine open lab periods.

Assisted Lab Hours

The Assisted Lab Hours for Fall 2024 are being held in NSC-211B on the following dates and times:

There are no assisted lab hours on holidays. Labs are still open for use by students via electronic access and their UCF ID card.

Activity Calendars for Media Labs

Below are the activities calendars for the three primary Media Labs in the NSCM building. After the second week of classes, these Media Labs are available for use when classes are not scheduled.
