Film and Mass Media Program at the UCF Nicholson School of Communication and Media
Responsibilities of Use
Requirement to Disclose
Every checkout must include affiliated coursework or project information. No checkout will be released unless the intended activity can be documented.
Inspection
All users are expected to count, inspect, and test all equipment for functionality before leaving the Film Equipment Room. Once an item has be contracted out and leaves the checkout, users are personally responsible for any damage or missing components.
Any visible damage or missing items must be documented on the receipt’s notes to avoid any potential responsibility for pre-existing issues.
Condition of Return
Items should be cleaned and organized before returning to the Film Equipment Room. That means all kit items in the correct bags or cases, properly coiled cables, free of any tape or residue (unless marked as not working).
Additionally, content should be downloaded from all media cards and formated prior to the scheduled return of equipment.
Hazardous Use
Electronic equipment used in environmental conditions that could lead to unnecessary wear and tear, damage, or premature failure should be limited to as brief as possible. Additional steps must be taken to protect equipment in harsh environments. This includes but is not limited to the following elements:
- Contact with large amounts of sand or dust
- Prolonged exposure to salt water or extreme humidity
- Extreme cold or extreme heat
Equipment shall not be used in activities that violate the school’s Risk Management Policies.
Facilities
All spaces should be returned to their default configuration when activities are completed, this includes all furniture. Trash should be cleaned up and thrown away. All food waste should only be disposed of in main hallway trash bins.
Additionally, all integrated equipment should be powered off (unless otherwise specified), lights should be turned off, and entry doors should be pulled closed to ensure that the room is secured.
