Production Companies

Overview

All production companies must receive written approval by the school’s director to use university owned equipment and facilities. This include productions belonging to or benefiting third parties. Third parties are individuals who are not currently enrolled as students at the University of Central Florida or employed by the UCF Board of Trustees.

Students who incorporate or create a limited liability company (LLC) to execute the production of their creative project cannot be covered by the school’s production insurance policy. Projects that directly benefit or belong to a production company owned by a currently enrolled student, a legal partnership, or a third-party entity must purchase their own General Liability and Inland Marine coverage. Worker’s Compensation coverage is also required if the production intends to hire employees or independent contractors.

Disclosure of Coverage

Production companies must supply their insurance policy statements, endorsements, exceptions, and a schedule of forms; as well as any other documentation deemed necessary to satisfy the school’s concern of compliance. This should include written confirmation from the underwriter that all high-risk items or activities planned for their production have been fully disclosed and are covered.

Certificate of Insurance (COI)

The production company must issue a certificate of insurance (COI) to the Head of Film Production Services before any equipment can be released or any UCF-owned location or studio/stage space can be used for production.
