Traveling with Equipment

Overview

Students and faculty who wish to travel with production equipment must be mindful of the limitations of the school’s production insurance policy as the replacement of missing or damaged equipment is only covered when transporting and storing equipment on land within the United States, the District of Columbia, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Traveling by Plane or Ship

Whenever traveling through the air or over the water, even domestically, procuring an Ocean Marine policy may be necessary to augment existing the Inland Marine coverage. This is dependent on the value of the equipment being transported.

All high-value camera and sound equipment must be transported as carry-on luggage and cannot be checked into the cargo area of a plane or ship.

Traveling Internationally

If planning to traveling outside of the United States, the District of Columbia, Canada and Puerto Rico, students and faculty may need to also procure additional replacement coverage to protect for loss or damaged when transporting and storing equipment.

Additional Coverage

Equipment packages with total values under the standard deductible of $2,5000 do not require additional insurance, but will require cash replacement in the event of loss and damage to paid by the individual who checked out the equipment.

Packages with total values over the standard deductible of $2,500 will not be released without proof of the appropriate coverage being procured.

Additional coverage must be valid for the entire duration of the trip.
